Poor Clare Nuns are religious of the Franciscan tradition
who are consecrated to a wholly contemplative life.
We hope you find that reflected here as you visit our site.
Our life is one of prayer, for you, for the Church and for the whole world.
Even before her death on August 11, 1253 the life begun by St. Clare at San Damiano had spread to many parts of Europe. Sisters were sent from San Damiano to begin monasteries in other cities or existing groups of religious women adopted the Rule of St. Clare followed at San Damiano for themselves. Today there are over 800 Poor Clare monasteries in all parts of the world.
God calls everyone in a unique way and discerning your own vocation is a journey you take in dialogue with God through prayer; in dialogue with yourself by examining your own inner attractions and spiritual life; in dialogue with a spiritual director or trusted friend and in dialogue with the religious communities you seek out.
